Below are previous personalized poems I’ve written
Example I; Inspired by my sister,
I want to write you a poem, wrap it up with a bow
Write you a world of cotton candy and mermaids,
Calm waters and happy fish
One you can fill with laughter and song
I want to write you in a poem, sit you on top of a treasure chest
And surround you with the gems I see in you
Your voice, sapphires so bright
Your kindness, like rubies and diamonds shines
Emeralds and aquamarines, laughter and strength
So maybe you’ll believe
I think you got lost inside the poem, but not in a happy place
Got yourself wrapped up in seaweed, swimming circles in murky water
Think you dumped out your treasure, searching for something different
Turning over rocks for answers and only finding sand
I want to write you in a poem
Write you how I see you
A wonderful little mermaid with a voice to calm the sea
I’ll write you in the poem
With a map back to your treasure, a starfish to guide you back
Back to calmer water and your happy, fishy family
Example II; Inspired by a new romance,
written in the format of a Sestina, in which the author choose seven words, and ends each line of the stanza with one of those words following a particular order
What began like a whisper, exciting
Then grew to a song, tender
An interlude followed, both unsure of the vulnerability
Only to come together with a crescendo so passionate
Hopeful
Playful
Discovering what it means to be intimate
In our minds and hearts, intimate
Such growth not all get to experience, how exciting
That it may continue to grow we’re hopeful
We approach each other tender,
Not want to shatter this, but passionate
It is hard to hold back with this kind of vulnerability
What does it mean, this early to be vulnerable?
A balance of cautious, and playful
Because this is new, but passionate
New love is so exciting
With these moments to be tender
For what comes next, we are hopeful
